Working out is my therapy. It’s the only way I can holistically address my mental health. Fitness, for me, is as much of an act of the brain as it is of the body.
In a typical training session, I will always ask about how you are doing mentally- not only because I care, but also I believe the mind can dictate what the body will do. Properly primed, the brain can support the body to reach its greatest potential.
With an extensive background in PNF stretching, I integrate flexibility in all my strength programs for the purpose of pain relief, injury prevention, & athletic performance. I am an avid Power and Olympic Weightlifter, largely preferring Cleans and Jerks as a total body workout. Plus, I am a formally trained barre instructor and often use the barre for flexibility exercises. While aesthetics is an important component of training, it's secondary to functional movement- I expect my clients to be able to perform fundamental movements essential to daily life- from that, aesthetic preference will proceed.
I also have a preference for training people who otherwise feel uncomfortable in the gym. I am especially interested in training people undergoing hormonal changes- the trans community, pre- and post- menopausal women, and men on TRT & other treatments.
As a non-binary trainer, I respect both masculine and feminine attributes; but I will always look at you and treat you as a person first, capable of all movements and strength. I will train you to love your body in all its forms and will always follow you along your journey of health with pride and enthusiasm. We can do this together! Yes, we can and we will!
